Dear Sir/Madam,
Within the framework of the EUTOPIA Science and Innovation Fellowship Programme, monthly fellow’s seminars will take place, in which the 40 researchers enrolled in the two cohorts will in turn present their research projects.
We are therefore delighted to invite you to the upcoming EUTOPIA-SIF Fellows Seminar, on Thursday 30 January, 13:00-14:30 CET.
The event will be open at the EUTOPIA level, please disseminate it to the relevant people it can interest.
The seminar will be held on Zoom: https://cyu-fr.zoom.us/j/92790060737?pwd=Qt4flc1wroPyjNo7Kj9GN1nt0IOMA9.1

| Project Title | New approach to target sleep in people with chronic pain | |
| Abstract | Chronic pain and sleep disturbances frequently co-occur, forming a bidirectional relationship that exacerbates both conditions and negatively impacts quality of life. Despite this interplay, few interventions are tailored to address the unique dynamics between sleep and pain. The project presents an innovative approach, adapting Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia to specifically integrate elements of the sleep-pain relationship. The intervention targets maladaptive sleep behaviours and cognitions while accounting for pain-related disruptions. The program also incorporates semi-digital delivery, increasing accessibility and scalability. A pilot study using the intervention in individuals with chronic musculoskeletal pain and comorbid insomnia is currently ongoing. | |

| Project Title | Advanced Nanomedicine for Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis | |
| Abstract | Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, requiring better ways to detect and treat it while minimizing side effects. My research focuses on developing polymeric nanocarriers, tiny structures made from a biocompatible material called poly(2-oxazoline) (POx). POx is safer and less likely to trigger immune reactions than traditional materials like polyethylene glycol (PEG). These nanocarriers combine chemotherapy drugs and a special light-activated molecule that kills cancer cells and glows under specific light, enabling real-time imaging. By improving drug delivery, reducing side effects, and enabling precise monitoring, this innovation aims to create safer and more effective cancer treatments. | |

| Project Title | Olive Cultivation and Environment in Tuscany in the Early Modern Period. | |
| Abstract | My work proposes a multifaceted investigation into the environmental, artistic, and intellectual history of the olive tree in the Medici Grand Duchy of Tuscany (1569–1737). It brings new insights into a plant, which since the sixteenth century has become intrinsically connected to the construction of the ‘Tuscan’ identity, while remaining highly sensitive to local climatic and politico-economic fluctuations. By better understanding the historical, material, and cultural connections of the olive tree with its territory, one can gain a deeper understanding of the regional value of the olive tree and reflect on the future of this plant in the Mediterranean in the wake of current global climatic, ecological, and economic challenges. | |
