Who is the programme for?

The Speech and Language Therapy programme is designed for anyone interested in working with children or adults who experience difficulties in communication, language, speech, swallowing, or hearing. It is particularly intended for those who wish to identify problems in these areas and to plan and implement rehabilitation, educational, and training procedures. If you are responsible, communicative, interested in an interdisciplinary approach, and ready to collaborate with the parents or close relatives of those undergoing (re)habilitation as well as with other professionals, then this programme is for you.

What is study like?

The Speech and Language Therapy programme integrates elements from numerous disciplines and fields. During your studies, you will acquire essential knowledge not only in speech and language therapy but also in linguistics, special education, sign language, rehabilitation, psychology, neurology, audiology, and research methods. The knowledge you acquire will also be put into practice through exercises, observations, presentations, and internships at various institutions where speech and language therapists are employed. This practical work will further develop your ability to communicate with individuals experiencing various communication disorders or hearing loss, as well as with their relatives.

The undergraduate programme is completed by awarding the title of Speech and Language Therapist (professorica logopedinja surdopedagoginja for females or profesor logoped surdopedagog for males). Due to the highly interdisciplinary nature of the profession and the complexity of the issues involved, it is necessary to complete a second, Master’s level programme to independently practise as a speech and language therapist, thereby obtaining the title of Master Speech and Language Therapist (magistrica profesorica or magister profesor).
