Exhibition of final works

An exhibition of final projects by final-year students is on display in the faculty gallery.

Who is the programme for?

The Art Pedagogy programme is designed for visually talented individuals who wish to acquire or deepen their knowledge in areas such as drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic art, and other design fields, as well as in art theory, art history, pedagogy, and didactics. It is ideal for those who have a passion for teaching in primary and secondary schools or engaging in other forms of art-related work with young people.

The first cycle lasts 4 years and culminates in the award of the title of Art Pedagogy Teacher. Graduates who wish to teach in the classroom may continue their studies at the second cycle.

What is study like?

  • Extensive Studio Work: Students will spend a significant amount of time in ateliers developing their artistic skills.
  • Theoretical Deepening: Through seminars and lectures, you will critically reflect on your own work and explore theoretical concepts related to art practice.
  • Practical Application: You will translate the knowledge gained in predominantly theoretical courses into pedagogical practice during classroom observations, internships, and independent teaching sessions in primary and secondary schools, particularly in subjects such as Visual Arts and Art Design.
  • Field Trips and Excursions: The programme includes guided professional excursions. These visits are designed to expose you to selected children’s art exhibitions as well as art-historical sites, providing direct contact with both past and contemporary artistic achievements within a broader cultural context.

Programme objectives

  • Foster Personal Artistic Expression: Prepare students to develop their own artistic potential and help each student or pupil enhance their visual expression.
  • Educational Planning and Organisation: Equip students with the skills to plan and organise educational processes in primary and secondary schools.
  • Interdisciplinary Integration: Develop competences for linking art concepts with those from other subject areas.
  • Extracurricular Engagement: Prepare students to organise and lead interest-based activities and other programmes for target groups outside of the standard school curriculum.

Admission requirements

Applicants for the university-level Art Pedagogy programme may enrol if they meet one of the following criteria:

  • Have obtained a general high school leaving certificate;
  •  Have passed a vocational matriculation exam in one of the following secondary education programmes: Preschool Teacher, or Health Technician, and have also passed the art theory or art history exam as part of their general matriculation exam (note that the selected art subject must not be one already taken as part of the vocational matriculation);
  •  Have completed any four-year secondary school programme before 1 June 1995.

All candidates must pass an aptitude test in visual arts.

Studying Art Pedagogy provided me with the opportunity to deepen my own artistic practice and engage in critical reflection within a stimulating environment. The programme empowered me to pass on my knowledge of visual art in various forms and settings—whether in schools, associations, or workshops. The professors in Art Pedagogy serve as a true inspiration; from my own experience, I can confidently say that they have a remarkable ability to ignite a passion for teaching visual arts in young creatives.
