Members of the UL PEF Student Council

At the Faculty of Education

The Student Council of UL PEF is one of the five official governing bodies of the faculty and the only one composed exclusively of students. It consists of 11 to 25 students from various study programmes offered at UL PEF.

In addition to the Student Council, students also have:

  • 4 representatives in the UL PEF Senate (elected for a one-year term)
  • 1 representative in the Management Board (by function, the President of the Student Council)
  • 37 representatives in the Academic Assembly (elected for a one-year term)

Within the UL PEF Senate, there are several committees in which students also have elected representatives, serving a two-year term. These include:

  • Disciplinary Committee – First Instance: 2 representatives and 2 deputy representatives
  • Committee for International Cooperation: 1 representative
  • Tutoring Committee: 1 representative
  • Quality Assurance Committee: 2 representatives
  • Study Affairs Committee: 1 representative
  • Doctoral Studies Committee: 1 representative

Any UL PEF student with valid student status in the current academic year may run for a position as a student representative in the Senate, Academic Assembly, or Senate committees. Membership in the Student Council is not required to apply or be elected. If a student loses their student status, their membership in the elected body also ends.

At the University of Ljubljana

Students also have 2 representatives in the Student Council of the University of Ljubljana – these positions are held by the President and Vice-President of the UL PEF Student Council by function.

Students may also run for positions as student representatives in the UL Senate and its committees. Any student of the University of Ljubljana with valid student status in the current academic year may run and be elected. As before, Student Council membership is not a requirement for candidacy. If a student loses their status, they also lose their position in the elected body.

The Student Council makes formal decisions during its meetings. These are typically held once a month; however, written (correspondence) sessions and extraordinary sessions may be organized as needed. During the meetings, we discuss topics related to studying at the faculty and strive to address academic issues and challenges.

You can contact us anytime you have a question or a problem. Feel free to write to us via email, Facebook, or Instagram. We’re very responsive and will get back to you as soon as possible. If we don’t have the answer ourselves, we’ll make sure to direct you to the right person who can help.

We also welcome your suggestions and ideas for improving both our work and the study experience at the faculty. We always pass on the information to the responsible individuals and do our best to help resolve any issues.

New students may also find the priročnik Infobruc. especially useful.

Throughout your studies, you might find various regulations and official documents helpful, particularly the Statute of the University of Ljubljana, the University Study Rules, the UL PEF Rules on Undergraduate Studies, the UL PEF Rules on Postgraduate Studies (2nd cycle), and the UL PEF Rules on Doctoral Studies (3rd cycle).

If you’re ever in doubt or just curious about something – don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re here for you!

At the beginning of each academic year (late October or early November), a call for applications is published for the election of new members to the Student Council. If you’d like to join us, simply submit your candidacy – all necessary information is always included in the call.

Elections are held in mid-November, during which all students of the Faculty of Education can cast their vote and elect the candidates. After the elections, the president of the outgoing Student Council convenes a constitutive session, during which all elected members are officially confirmed, and new leadership is elected.

Year representatives are students selected from each year and every study programme. Their role is crucial for ensuring smooth and effective communication, as they act as a bridge between students and the Student Council.

Some of their key responsibilities include:

  • Gathering student feedback about professors and teaching assistants (praise, congratulations, comments, constructive criticism, etc.)
  • Communicating comments and praise related to the implementation of the study programme
  • Collecting suggestions for timetable arrangements
  • Reporting feedback on the execution of teaching practice
  • Conveying ideas related to improving and organizing the learning environment on and around the faculty
  • … and more

Year representatives also make sure their fellow students stay well-informed, especially regarding:

  • Invitations to participate in the creation of student opinions
  • Information about projects run by the Student Council
  • Open calls for student representatives in faculty and university bodies
  • … and more

All students are encouraged to regularly reach out to their year representatives. Every suggestion is welcome!
