About the Gallery

At the UL PEF Gallery, exhibitions for the current academic year are prepared according to a pre-planned programme. Exhibitors include students and staff of UL PEF as well as external artists. The UL PEF Gallery programme also includes an exhibition space in the UL PEF Library.

The Role of the UL PEF Gallery

The gallery is important because it:

It enables art education students to critically reflect on their own work outside the studio environment.
It provides art education students with their first exhibition experience.
It allows professors to present their artistic work to art education students right “outside the door” of the classrooms where they teach.
Since not all art education graduates can find employment in the public education system, we aim to meaningfully present former graduates who have become successful visual artists, offering inspiration and alternative career paths.

The Gallery hosts various types of exhibitions:

The annual exhibition of all studio-based courses at the end of the 4th year of undergraduate studies.
Individual exhibitions of studio-based courses within the art education programme.
Solo exhibitions by the best art education students.
Solo exhibitions by professors from the Department of Art Education.
Solo exhibitions by former art education graduates.
Exhibitions by renowned Slovenian artists.
Educational exhibitions by other departments of the Faculty of Education (e.g., educational content from biology, chemistry, physics, etc.).

I started drawing caricatures gradually during my studies in art education. What began as a “side project” alongside various jobs eventually grew into a full-fledged profession – since 2017, I have been working professionally as a caricaturist and illustrator. As I don’t exhibit my work often, the invitation to present my caricatures at the Faculty of Education Gallery in 2015 meant all the more to me (quite coincidentally, exactly ten years after I graduated). With that exhibition, the memories of a creatively rich period of study and an unconventional professional path came together in the most beautiful way.
