Book exhibition: 80 years of Pippi Longstocking – the girl who turned the world upside down

Eighty years ago, Astrid Lindgren introduced the world to a girl who changed children’s literature forever—Pippi Longstocking. With her fiery orange hair, freckles, and boundless imagination, Pippi became a symbol of freedom, courage, and childhood creativity. She is the most unusual, courageous, and free girl in literature. She lives by her own rules: she is not afraid of authority, she knows how to stand up for herself, and she believes that life is an adventure. At a time when stories about girls were mostly calm and obedient, Pippi brought a breath of fresh air of courage and independence.

Even after eight decades, Pippi Longstocking remains a symbol of childhood freedom, imagination, and sparkle. She reminds us that it’s okay to be different, to laugh even when the world isn’t perfect, and that courage often comes in the form of colorful stockings.

The exhibition is located in a display case in the library foyer.
