The basic goal of this programme is to equip students for quality preventive, developmental, compensational, educational and socially inclusive social pedagogical work with individuals, groups and communities in the area of supporting and helping people to master their lives in various life periods and situations. The study goals include achieving an ability to work in various institutional and informal environments in which social pedagogy operates. The study programme conveys the basic theoretical knowledge, along with the competences required for both practical work and research work in the area of social pedagogy.
The general goal of study is qualification for the theoretically reflective analysis of social phenomenon, institutions and professional work in the context of the life sphere of the individual, with an emphasis on intercultural and anti-discriminatory work. An important goal is the acquisition of the basic and broadly transferable knowledge that will enable graduates, in the process of lifelong learning, to continue to seek out sources and ways of gaining the specific knowledge and skills required in their work on their own.

Conditions for Enrolment and Criteria for Selection in the case of Limited Enrolment
A. General conditions for enrolment in the programme
Anyone who has passed the matriculation exam or has, prior to 01.06.95, completed any four-year secondary school programme, is entitled to enrol in the stated study programme. In principle, the number of enrolment places for full-time study is 40, and for part-time study 30.
B. Criteria for selection in the case of limited enrolment
If a resolution on limited enrolment is passed candidates will be selected with regard to:
- general success in the matriculation or concluding exam - 60% of the points
- general success in the 3rd and 4th years - 40% of the points.
Conditions For Advancement Through The Programme
a) Conditions for advancement from year to year
The general condition for advancement from a lower year to a higher year is the gaining of at least 54 ECTS. The shortfall of ECTS from one year must be gained by the student in the following year at the latest. In exceptional cases a student who has not achieved the required 54 ECTS can enrol in a higher year, taking into account the criteria and procedures determined by Article 153 of the UL Statute.
b) Conditions for repeating a year
The student must gain at least 30 ECTS for the year that he or she wishes to repeat. While studying, the student can repeat a year or change the study programme only once.
