The Two-Subject Teacher

Graduates of the two-subject study programme for teacher education gain:

  • the fundamental professional knowledge from two subject areas that is important for education in each subject area,
  • specialist didactic knowledge from the two selected subject areas of education together with practical pedagogical training,
  • the fundamental professional knowledge from the areas of pedagogy, psychology, philosophy and sociology that is important for working in education.

The programme enables the continuation of study in the 2nd Bologna cycle, and with this the gaining of a qualification for independent work in institutions in the field of education in both of the selected subject areas.

Conditions for Enrolment and Criteria for Selection in the case of Limited Enrolment

A. General conditions for enrolment in the programme

Anyone can enrol in the stated study programme who has:

  • a.) passed the matriculation exam.
  • b.) passed the professional matriculation exam in any secondary school programme and the exam from the matriculation subject. The selected subject may not to be a subject that the candidate has already passed in the professional matriculation exam.
  • c.) anyone who has, prior to 01.06.1995, completed any four-year secondary school programme.

The study schedule of the programme comprises three parts: common subjects and subjects from the two selected orientations, representing two subject areas from the foreseen list.
