The data acquisition and control (DAQ) systems are a key pieces of apparatus requied for so called "Real laboratory" exercises, reflecting the fact that the importance of practical experimentation and laboratory work has not decreased in the era of ICT.
The ComLab-2 DAQ systems aim to fullfil the following criteria:
q low-cost
q USB connectivity
q robust design important for educational applications
q optimal characteristics for data sampling by sensors (computerised measurment)
q optimal characteristics for control applications (controlling robots, actuators, drivers)
q free detailed documentation for autonomous learners who would like to construct a DAQ system by themselves
q free "ready to use" software supporting data sampling as well as control applications
q supporting free programming libraries to develop applications in different environments (Delphi, Visual Basic, C++, LabView, etc.)
Although several commercial DAQ systems are already available, all the features listed above are not generally fulfilled.
The ComLab-2 project, therefore, aims to upgrade and extend the DAQ systems designed and developed during the ComLab-1 phase.
