Conditions for Enrolment and Criteria for Selection in the case of Limited Enrolment

In principle, there are 120 enrolment places for full-time study and 45 enrolment places for part-time study.

Conditions for enrolment:

Anyone can enrol in the second cycle study programme who has completed:

 

A) a first cycle study programme from an appropriate prior professional area (Paragraph 1, Article 38.a HEA) to the extent of 240 ECTS (and has demonstrated a knowledge of English).*


 B) a first cycle study programme to the extent of 240 ECTS from other professional areas, provided that prior to enrolment the candidate has completed all of the study obligations required for the continuation of study.*


 C) a first cycle study programme to the extent of 180 ECTS from other professional areas, provided that prior to enrolment the candidate has completed all of the study obligations required for the continuation of study and demonstrates the previously acquired knowledge and competences from the subjects of fundamental pedagogical study and from the area of primary school education.*


 D) a high school professional study programme to the extent of 180 ECTS from the area ISCED 14 Teacher Education and Education Sciences, provided that the candidate has completed all of the study obligations required for the continuation of study to the extent of 60 ECTS. The candidate can compete these obligations as an additional year.*


 E) a high school professional study programme according to the old programme to the extent of 180 ECTS from other professional areas, providing that prior to enrolment the candidate completes all of the study obligations that are required for the continuation of study and demonstrates the previously acquired knowledge and competences from the subjects of fundamental pedagogical study and from the area of primary school education. *

* For enrolment into Primary Teacher Education with English is required C1 level proficiency of English.

Criteria for selection in the case of limited enrolment

The faculty passes a resolution on the limitation of enrolment if the number of applications that fulfil all of the general conditions for enrolment significantly exceeds the number of available study places.

 

In this case, the selection of candidates is undertaken on the basis of the following criteria:

  • the average grade achieved in study in the first cycle (60%)
  • the grade of a degree or other form of conclusion of study (10%)
  • a selection exam, in which the candidate demonstrates a familiarity with and overview of the desired area of study (30%)

If in previous study the candidate has not completed a degree or other form of conclusion of study the average grade in the first cycle is taken into account to the extent of 70%.

Conditions for Advancement through the Programme

For candidates who undertake the programme as full-time study and to the basic extent of 60 ECTS there are no conditions for advancement (the study has a duration of only one year).

 

For candidates who undertake the programme as part-time study, the conditions for advancement are determined in such a way as to take into account the overall extent of the obligations (all of the foreseen credit points) defined for the individual year of study (at least 30 ECTS and no more than 45 ECTS).

Conditions for Concluding Study

In order to conclude study the student must gain all of the foreseen credit points from all of the appropriate parts of the programme. In this regard, credit points gained in other higher education institutions both in Slovenia and abroad (mobility) can be taken into account, providing these points have been gained in accordance with the UL Statute and the rules of the FEd, and have been confirmed by the faculty organs.
